I wanted to write something about another discovery in Paris over the weekend but I was confined in the hotel room as I suddenly caught the influenza virus that my husband had a week ago, coupled by a severe migraine. Despite the uncomfortable feeling, I’m grateful that I had a good city view in our cosy hotel room at the Marriott and Mark had been so patient over his demanding patient (that’s moi, lol).
Whenever I stay at hotels, I have this usual habit of switching the TV on to BBC World or CNN. Afflicting news from different parts of the globe had been broadcasted last weekend. There was the fire incident at Santa Maria, Brazil that took over 200 lives (let’s pray for the families of the victims). The story about the unrest in Egypt’s Port Said and it’s capital, Cairo, made me realise that I was lucky I did not encounter any riot or unfortunate situation when I was in that African country few years back. Not sure if this were the right things to watch when one’s ill (especially when I was half asleep, half awake and most of the time, groggy!) but it reminded me when I was torn between booking a trip to Brazil or Egypt last 2009 (I chose Egypt) and this inspired me to write a travel memoir trilogy about my Egyptian escapade….
- Part One: Cairo and El Giza (available now)
- Part Two: Aswan, Abu Simbel, Nile Cruise (to be uploaded soon)
- Part Three: Luxor and Alexandria (to be uploaded soon)
Keep warm and healthy guys xx
