Dobro pozhalovat’ v moyu zhizn‘.
Oh-lala. Thanks to Google translate for that (Dobro pozhalovat’ v moyu zhizn’ means ‘welcome to my life’ in Russian – to those who knows this language well, please feel free to correct me, *wink).
Back in the city of lights, I can say I’m one lucky girl for spending a few days with one of the Philippines’ hottest showbiz properties – Paulo Avelino.
This photo was taken at Cafe Flora in Saint Germain last 07/07/13 after the TFC Fiesta Caravan at Pista sa Paris.
Beyond the public’s knowledge about Paulo as the super effective kontrabidang Nathan in Walang Hanggan, lovable Lance at Kahit Konting Pagtingin, 2012 Urian Best Actor and of course, his jaw dropping poses at Bench, I’ve gotten to know more about this ‘Celebrity Crush ng Bayan’ beyond his successful achievements as we stroll around the lovely streets of Paris and dine in some restaurant gems in Paris (you’re probably thinking the same as me – he’s so much nicer in person, more reason to love him off cam). I always believe that things are better shared over some good food (one of my motto in life) – and that has been the highlight of this trip.
After the official event / working day last Sunday, the foodie gang (Luis – ABS-CBN Europe Regional Sales Director, Jj – Paulo’s Road Manager, Paulo et moi), headed to the DARU the following day for a Russian cuisine experience.
Officer of the guard, Nicolas II created DARU (the restaurant with its grocery store) way back in 1918. It is reputed to be the oldest Parisian Russian establishment.
Today DARU continues this tradition of quality in the kitchen and in the art of hospitality in the heart of the sixteenth arrondissement.
It’s an intimate restaurant with a warm wood surrounding and good service. One of the waiters speaks English well (still, thank god for having a fluent French speaker in the gang, Jj).
We ordered Beef Stragonoff, Smoked Salmon (house specialty), freshly made blinis and a selection of caviar. I know it’s a Russian house but we decided to skip Vodka for lunch since it’s nearly 30C degrees outside and had a cold French rosé instead.
Voskhititel’nyy! (russian translation of ‘delicious)
Ochen’ khoroshiy! (russian translation of ‘very good’)
Average price per person is €70 but you might want to consider this board too:
Definitely not cheap but it’s all worth it.
DARU is located at 19 Rue Daru, Place des Ternes, 75008 Paris, France (nearest metro: Courcelles).
